Success story
Cesare Fiorucci-Campofrío – Energy Production
- Construction of a 7 MW electrical and 15 MW thermal power plant to guarantee the production of steam and hot/cold water for a meat processing and packaging factory.
- Supply the factory with a natural gas engine that provides electrical and thermal energy to the client.
- Recover heat from the exhaust gases and engine cooling circuits for steam production at 11 bar and hot water.
- Optimization of energy production, based on the development of a SCADA that also facilitated the plant's O&M, even remotely.
- Additionally, construction of a refrigeration plant using ammonia compressors for the production of chilled water.
Campofrío was founded in 1952 in Burgos and, since then, has been gaining presence in America and Europe. Today, it brings together companies based in Spain, France, Germany, Belgium, Portugal, the Netherlands and the USA. In 2014, it took over its Italian subsidiary, Fiorucci.
Since 1850, Fiorucci has embodied the values of the Italian spirit with passion and pride and offers a unique Italian experience to consumers in more than 60 countries. It is present in all delicatessen categories of Italian processed meats, such as mortadella, cooked ham, roasted ham, cured ham, sausages, salami and other specialties.
In this EPC project, it was established in an energy plant to guarantee the production of steam, hot water and cold water for a meat processing and packaging factory. The new natural gas engine provided electrical and thermal energy. In this way, heat was recovered from the exhaust gases and engine cooling circuits for steam production at 11 bar and hot water. Likewise, the project included a refrigeration plant using ammonia compressors for the production of chilled water in two circuits of -2 °C and -8 °C.
